On March 27, the Kuyavian-Pomeranian high school and technical school ranking gala “Perspektywy” 2025 was held at the Collegium Humanisticum of NCU. As part of the promotion of NCU's offer, mg inż. Jakub Wojtasik led a workshop, “Data analysis and statistics - how does it work?” for students participating in the event.

As of 28.02, the Center is located in room C103 in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science building at 12/18 Chopina Street in Toruń.

On February 18-19, the Center's staff, Dr. Natalia Soja-Kukiela and M.Sc. Jakub Wojtasik, took part in the 36th Analytical Workshop organized in Warsaw by Predictive Solutions.

The center's director, Dr. Joanna Karlowska-Pik, was awarded the silver medal for long service by the President of Poland.

The Ludwik Rydygier Collefium Medicum in Bydgoszcz is celebrating two special anniversaries this year: The 40th anniversary of its founding and the 20th anniversary of its merger with Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. To mark the occasion, a formal session of the Senate of the Nicolaus Copernicus University was held, as well as a gala at the Pomeranian Philharmonic Hall in Bydgoszcz. The Center for Statistical Analysis was represented at the event by Director Dr. Joanna Karłowska-Pik.

A Center for Statistical Analysis team took part in this year's Data Science Summit held on November 22 at the National Stadium in Warsaw.

From July 8-19, the Center's staff, Dr. Natalia Soja-Kukieła, and Jakub Wojtasik, M.Sc., conducted an Introduction to Data Analysis in Python training course organized for doctoral students and foreign-language staff at UMK in cooperation with Academia Copernicana and the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences.

On 8.04 and 22.04, the first edition of the full-time course "Basics of data analysis in JASP" was held, realised by the Centre for the Institute of Pedagogical Sciences. As part of the course, participants were introduced to the programme, how to enter and edit data, perform basic exploratory analyses and simple statistics, as well as visualisation. The workshop was led by Dr Natalia Soja-Kukieła.

What do Titanic survivors, Tiffany diamonds and 1970s American cars have in common?  The answer to this question could be found out by the participants of a lecture given as part of the 22nd Toruń Festival of Science and Arts by Dr Joanna Karłowska-Pik and Jakub Wojtasik, M.Sc.

On 10 January 2024, Krzysztof Leki defended his master's thesis entitled. "Exploration of association rules". Congratulations!

Centre for Statistical Analyses - University Statistical Emergency Room -
is the topic of the November meeting in the Tuesday with Science series organised under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences CM UMK. On October 31, 2023, Ewa Kostrzewska ended her work at the Centre. We thank and wish success! On November 1, 2023, Jakub Wojtasik returned to work after leave.

The Centre for Statistical Analyses was represented by its director Dr Joanna Karłowska-Pik at the conference ,,Modern Statistical Methods in Medical Research'' organised by the Polish ISCB Group at CM UMK in Bydgoszcz on 13-14.10.2023.

The Centre's Director, Dr Joanna Karłowska-Pik, participates in the conference 'Data as a basis for the functioning and development of the financial market', organised in Katowice by the Office of the Financial Supervision Authority and the University of Economics in Katowice in connection with the creation of the Centre for Supervisory Data Analysis.

On October 1, 2023, dr. Natalia Soja-Kukieła returned to work at the Centre after her leave.

On 25th-28th September 2023, the course Basics of data analysis in Python was held. For the first time, it was run in hybrid mode. The course was conducted by Ewa Kostrzewska and Krzysztof Leki, analytics of the Centre.

On 5th-6th and 12th-13th July 2023, the summer edition of full-time course Basics of data analysis in Python was held, conducted by Ewa Kostrzewska, Krzysztof Leki, Jakub Wojtasik, analytics of the Centre.

On 21 June, a course on the basics of data analysis and statistics in the Python language, conducted for the Department of Biophotonics and Optical Engineering of the Faculty of Physics Astronomy and Applied Computer Science at the NCU, concluded.

On 1 June 2023, a new member of staff, Ewa Kostrzewska, joined the Statistical Analysis Centre team as a replacement for Dr Natalia Soja-Kukiela, who is on leave.

On 28th February - 3rd March 2023, the full-time course Basics of data analysis in Python was held for the second time, conducted by Krzysztof Leki, Jakub Wojtasik, analytics of the Centre.

On 21st-24th February 2023, the first full-time course Basics of data analysis in Python was held, conducted by Krzysztof Leki, Jakub Wojtasik, analytics of the Centre.

On 7th December 2022, we took part in the conference "Analityczne Wyzwania" organised in Kraków by Predictive Solutions and the AGH University of Science and Technology. In the poster competition, a poster prepared by Krzysztof Leki and Jakub Wojtasik won the first prize.

On 5-7 October 2022, inż. Krzysztof Leki participated in the ML4Microbiome Training School 2022 workshop organised in Barcelona within the Action of the European Cooperation Programme for Scientific and Technological Research (COST).

On September 6-7, 2022, employees of the Center - inż Krzysztof Leki, Eng. and mgr inż. Jakub Wojtasik took part in the "Warsztaty analityczne" organized by the AGH University of Science and Technology and Predictive Solutions.

Dr. Joanna Karlowska-Pik and inż. Krzysztof Leki spoke at the Seminar on Modern Data Mining Methods (20.05.2022) and the seminar of the Department of Biostatistics and Biomedical Systems Theory (08.06.2022), during which they presented a paper "Diagnostic possibilities of ROC curves".

On 23.05.2022, mgr inż. Jakub Wojtasik, spoke at the "Center for Climate Change Research" seminar, where he presented a paper "Mixed logistic regression models in climate data analysis".

The Center's staff recently attended several conferences on statistics and machine learning.

On November 2, 2021, a new employee, mgr inż. Jakub Wojtasik, joined the team of the Center for Statistical Analysis as a replacement for dr. Natalia Soja-Kukieła, who is on leave.

On July 1, a new employee, Krzysztof Leki, joined the team of the Centre for Statistical Analysis.

The director of the Center, Dr. Joanna Karłowska-Pik, received an individual 2nd-degree award from the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University for achievements in organizational and teaching activities.

Dr. Natalia Soja-Kukieła, currently employed at the Center for Statistical Analysis, received the Rector's scholarship for co-authorship (with Prof. Dr. Adam Jakubowski from WMiI) of the 140-point publication Directional phantom distribution functions for stationary random fields published in "Bernoulli: official journal of the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability. "

We offer NCU academic teachers and doctoral students the opportunity to take part in online courses (in Polish) prepared by employees of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science as part of the BELL - Best E-Learning Lecturer competition:

• Statistical inference,
• Data mining for the non-advanced.

Courses are carried out asynchronously on the university's Moodle platform based on the PS IMAGO PRO software.

From June 1st, 2021, the Centre for Statistical Analysis seat is room B308 in the building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, ul. Chopina 12/18, 87-100 Toruń.

On the same day, dr. Natalia Soja-Kukieła was employed at the Center, who provided statistical support, working in the secretariat of the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" program.

The Rector has appointed dr. Joanna Karłowska-Pik, adjunct at the Department of Mathematical Statistics and Data Mining at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the NCU, to be the director of the Center for Statistical Analysis. 

By Regulation no. 37, the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń established the Centre for Statistical Analysis.
